Amiran Communications brings Kengens Monitoring Capacity to a new level

Following the continued expansion of its power stations, Kengen contracted Amiran Communications in December last year to install an integrated network based on 4RF Micro Wave Radios at their Upper Tana, Kiritiri and Kamburu Control Center. The Micro Wave Radio System which was handed over this month will be used for the transfer of SCADA information, which involves monitoring of power generation per minute as well as voice and data connectivity between the Kamburu and Tana Power stations.

Any abnormality in the power system will be detected (remotely) allowing KENGEN to continue to meet international standards of monitoring alongside power generation activities that are computerized.

The system, which brought Amiran Communications to integrate a solution based on its New-Zealand based partner - 4RF, consists of cutting edge equipment used around the world to monitor and control oil, gas and utility companies’ infrastructure.

While the Micro Wave system is used for operational voice and data traffic, it is also used as a back-up link for connectivity of Corporate LAN. This system will ensure the smooth running of the power stations.

4RF, which was added in 2009 to the impressive list of Amiran Communications’ solutions providers, is recognized worldwide for its wireless solutions that optimize licensed frequencies and integrate seamlessly within existing infrastructure.
