Kenya’s Presidential Escort Unit will now enjoy the latest innovations in radio communications thanks to the new Motorola Digital Tetra Radio System, installed and
commissioned in November 2009 by Amiran Communications and Motorola Israel. The new system brings the new state of the art technology to Kenya and the Presidential Escort, the security organization charged with the safety and security of the President and all high level visiting dignitaries and heads of state. Prior to commissioning of the system, Amiran Communications completed installations of multiple base stations as as well as a central dispatching station at the Presidential Escort Unit headquarters. Other installations included base stations, vehicles and individual portable radios. The Presidential Escort’s communications capabilities will now be matched with such organizations as the Police Force in the United Kingdom, who have a similar system from Motorola covering the whole of the UK, and the Police Department in Johannesburg, South Africa, who installed such a system as part of its preparations for the World Cup in 2010.
